Coming from Obsidian
Move from Obsidian to Pages: where each core feature and popular plugin lives, the keys that changed, what works differently, what Pages leaves out, and how to import a vault.
Pages reads and writes the Markdown you already know from Obsidian: wikilinks, embeds, callouts, highlights, footnotes, %%comments%%, nested tags and frontmatter. It has backlinks, a graph, a quick switcher, a command palette and Obsidian's search operators, and it builds in the plugins most people install. This page maps Obsidian to Pages, lists what works differently, and says plainly what Pages doesn't do.
Where things are
| In Obsidian | In Pages |
|---|---|
| A vault of folders and notes | The Pages sidebar. A folder becomes a parent page, and a parent page with sub-pages exports as a folder |
| Live Preview, Reading and Source mode | The same three views, plus Present. See Four ways to view a page |
| Vim key bindings | A Vim switch in source view |
| Wikilinks, aliases, heading and block links | The same syntax: Page, alias, Page#Heading, Page#^id |
Embeds ! | A page, heading or block embed on its own line becomes a synced block, editable in place. Image, PDF and video embeds become media blocks. An embed inside a line of text stays a link |
| Callouts | The same 13 types and aliases, with folding and nesting. A custom callout type imports as a note callout |
| Properties | Properties with the same types; rename or delete one across every page |
| Tags and the tag pane | Nested tags and a tag pane |
| Backlinks, outgoing links, unlinked mentions | The same panel, which also matches the names of people in your network |
| Graph view and local graph | Dhaga's graph with a Pages layer, filters, groups, forces and time-lapse, plus a local graph per page |
| Canvas | Canvas, using JSON Canvas 1.0; .canvas files import and export, with text, file, link and group cards |
| Daily notes | The Journal, with your date format and template |
| Templates | Template variables date, time, title and , without scripts |
| Search and its operators | Full search with the same operators. See Search |
| Quick switcher and command palette | ⌘O and ⌘P, as in Obsidian |
| Bookmarks | Bookmarks for pages, headings, blocks, searches and graph views |
| Bases | Database views across all your pages. A .base file imports as a page with its query views; Bases options Pages doesn't support yet are dropped or shown as a table, and the report lists them |
| Slides | Present: every --- starts a slide |
| Note composer | Merge into… and Extract to new page |
obsidian:// links | Web addresses that create a page, add to today's Journal or open a search |
| Web Clipper | Clip to page in the Dhaga browser extension |
| Hotkeys settings | Settings → Shortcuts |
Plugins you won't need
| Plugin | In Pages |
|---|---|
| Dataview | Search query blocks, and database views across all pages. Existing dataview code blocks are not converted |
| Templater | Template variables and questions (no JavaScript). Templater tags such as <% %> are not converted |
| Kanban | The board view of a database |
| Tasks | Task query blocks and task: search operators |
| Calendar | The Journal's month calendar |
| Excalidraw | The drawing block |
Keys that changed
The Obsidian keys below are its defaults, which you can change in its settings.
| Action | Obsidian | Pages |

| Toggle comment | ⌘/ | Type %%. ⌘/ opens the block menu |
| New note | ⌘N | ⌘⌥N, or Alt+N on Windows and Linux |

The full list is in Keyboard shortcuts.
What works differently
- Your notes live in Dhaga, not in a folder on your disk. You edit them in the browser, and you can export the whole vault at any time and open it in Obsidian again.
- Links point at pages, not file names, so renaming a page never breaks a link, and titles can use any character.
- People are link targets.
[[and@find the contacts, companies, events and groups in your network, and each of them has a page of their own. - Blocks Markdown can't express, such as columns and tabs, are written as fenced blocks. Obsidian shows them as code blocks, and Pages reads them back as the original block.
- Attachments are 4 MB each, stored with your account.
- Embeds load on click.
What Pages doesn't do
These were left out on purpose:
- No offline mode. Pages needs a connection.
- No local folder vault. Import a vault as a
.zipand export one whenever you like instead. - No community plugins, and no custom CSS, themes or snippets. The plugins above are built in; for looks you can choose a font, small text, full width, right-to-left, and light or dark.
- No Obsidian Sync, headless sync or command-line access. Pages lives on Dhaga's servers; use Dhaga's MCP page tools and API for scripting.
- No end-to-end encrypted pages.
- No Publish site. A published page is a single read-only page, with no site navigation, custom domain, graph or backlinks.
- No in-app tabs, stacked tabs, pop-out windows or saved workspaces. Use browser tabs, split view and peeks.
- No live multiplayer. One person's save lands at a time, and Pages never overwrites someone's work silently.
- No audio recorder or audio files. Meeting notes keep a transcript, not the audio.
- No PDF, EPUB, Evernote or OPML import. PDFs can be attached to a page and read there.
- No Web Clipper highlighter or AI interpreter. The extension clips a selection or an article.
Move your vault
Zip your vault folder. On a Mac, right-click it in Finder and choose Compress; on Windows, right-click it and choose Send to → Compressed (zipped) folder.
In Pages, open Import… from the New page menu and drop the .zip in.
If your vault has a note per person, Pages offers to match each one to your contacts. Matched notes become the person's own page, and links to them become mentions.
Read the import report. It lists what came in and every item that was skipped, with the reason, such as an attachment over 4 MB.
Folders become parent pages (a note named like its folder becomes that folder's page), frontmatter becomes properties, links and embeds are reconnected by name, alias or path, .canvas files become canvases and .base files become query or database views. A link or embed whose target isn't in the vault stays as a dashed, unresolved link.
What is not imported:
- The
.obsidianfolder (settings, plugins, hotkeys, themes and snippets),.trashand any other hidden file or folder. - Dataview and Templater code, which stays as ordinary code blocks or text.
- Excalidraw drawings stored as
.excalidraw.mdnotes, which come in as ordinary notes, not drawing blocks. - Attachments over 4 MB.
- Frontmatter that can't be read as YAML, which is kept as a code block at the top of the page.
To go back, export everything as an Obsidian vault: see Import and export.
Coming from Notion
Move from Notion to Pages: where each Notion feature lives, the keys that changed, what works differently, what Pages leaves out, and how to bring your workspace and CRM across.
Tasks & recurring follow-ups
Track work with or without a person on Plan's List view, add company context, repeat follow-ups on a cadence, and turn note dates into calendar items.
