Coming from Notion
Move from Notion to Pages: where each Notion feature lives, the keys that changed, what works differently, what Pages leaves out, and how to bring your workspace and CRM across.
Pages works the way Notion does in most places: blocks, the slash menu, databases with views, formulas, synced blocks, comments and sharing. This page maps what you know from Notion to where it is in Pages, lists the differences you will notice in the first hour, and says plainly what Pages doesn't do. The last section walks through moving your workspace, including a CRM you built in Notion.
Where things are
| In Notion | In Pages |
|---|---|
| Pages and sub-pages | The same, in the Pages sidebar: Favourites, Recents, Private, Organization and Shared with me |
Blocks and the / menu | The same blocks and the same menu, including toggle headings, columns, tabs, callouts, equations and Mermaid. See The editor |
| Synced blocks | Synced blocks, written ![[Page#Heading]]; edit them in place. See Links |
| Databases and views | Table, board, list, gallery, calendar, timeline, chart, feed, map and dashboard views. See Databases |
| Formulas | Pages uses a formula language modelled on Notion's, so most formulas can be retyped as they are. The import doesn't carry formulas across, because Notion's CSV export holds each formula's result, not the formula. See Formulas |
| Relations and rollups | The same, plus Contact and Company properties that link rows to people in your network |
| Database templates, including repeating ones | The same |
| Buttons | The same, on every plan; a button's webhook needs the owner to be on Power or Team |
| Database automations | The same triggers, with Dhaga's inbox, push, Telegram, follow-up and webhook actions, on Power or Team |
| Wiki and verified pages | Verify on organization pages |
| Comments, suggested edits and page history | The same. History is kept 7 days on Free, 90 on Pro, and for as long as the page exists on Power and Team |
| Inbox | The Pages inbox, delivered by push and, if you connected it, Telegram. WhatsApp delivery is shown as Coming soon and is not built yet |
| Teamspaces and workspace sharing | Organization pages plus per-page roles and guests |
| Publish to web | Share → Publish: a read-only link with expiry, password (Pro), search indexing off by default, and duplicate as template |
| Notion AI | AI on a selection, Ask Dhaga over your pages, property autofill, a formula writer and meeting notes. See AI in Pages |
| Web Clipper | Clip to page in the Dhaga browser extension |
| Daily planning in Notion Calendar | Dhaga's Plan, and the Your day block in the Journal |
| Peek and full page | Side peek, centre peek and full page, plus split view |
Keys that changed
| Action | Notion | Pages |
|---|---|---|
| New page | ⌘N | ⌘⌥N, or Alt+N on Windows and Linux; browsers keep ⌘N |
| Search | ⌘P or ⌘K | ⌘K for Dhaga search, ⌘O for pages; ⌘P is the command palette |
| Toggle list | > then Space | >> then Space, /toggle or ⌘⌥7. > makes a quote |
| Open in a new tab | Notion's tabs | Your browser's tabs: ⌘-click |
| Back and forward | ⌘[ and ⌘] | Your browser's back and forward |
Turning a block into another type is the same as in Notion: Ctrl+Shift+0 to 9 on Windows and Linux, and ⌘⌥0 to 9 on a Mac.
The full list is in Keyboard shortcuts.
What works differently
- People are not database rows. Your contacts live in Dhaga's CRM. A database row links to a person with a Contact property, and every person, company, event and group has its own page on their profile. Pages has no "CRM as a database" view whose rows are your contacts.
- Mentions of people are private by design. A mention stores a reference, not the person's name. On a published page it shows as plain text, or initials if you choose.
- Embeds load on click, for you and for anyone viewing a published page.
- Files are 4 MB each. Embed longer videos from YouTube, Vimeo or Loom.
- Pages is on the web only. It works in a phone's browser; the Dhaga mobile app doesn't include it.
- Every feature is on every plan. Plans cap storage, history, two public-link controls and automations.
What Pages doesn't do
These were left out on purpose:
- No offline mode. Pages needs a connection.
- No live multiplayer. There are no live cursors or presence; one person's save lands at a time, and Pages never overwrites someone's work silently.
- No teamspaces. Organization pages with per-page roles do that job.
- No custom domains, site navigation, search-engine settings beyond on or off, or Google Analytics on published pages, and no form view or public forms.
- No Notion Mail, and no Notion Calendar extras such as scheduling links.
- No scheduled or custom AI agents, AI database builder, AI image generation or model picker.
- No synced databases from Jira, GitHub or other services, and no enterprise search connectors.
- No admin setting to disable export. Export always works in Pages.
- No audio block or audio uploads. Spotify and SoundCloud links become bookmark cards.
- No Unsplash covers. Covers are gradients, colours or your own images.
- No template marketplace. Use the curated gallery, or publish a page with duplicate as template.
- No per-person read tracking or page analytics. A public link shows an anonymous view count.
- No in-app tabs or pop-out windows. Browser tabs and Open in new window cover it.
- No mobile widgets, share sheet or swipe actions, because Pages is on the web.
- No People Directory database. A Person property picks members of your organization.
- No Gmail or Slack automation actions. Automations notify through the Pages inbox, push or Telegram, or call a webhook.
- No Notion API importers for Trello, Asana, Confluence, Monday, Quip or Dropbox Paper.
- No Notion developer tools such as Workers, a CLI or an SDK. Use Dhaga's MCP page tools and API instead.
Move your Notion workspace
In Notion, open Settings → Export all workspace content (or Export on the pages you want), choose Markdown & CSV, include sub-pages, and download the .zip.
In Pages, open Import… from the New page menu and drop the .zip in without unzipping it.
If you kept a CRM in Notion, a database of people or a page per person, Pages offers to match each one to your contacts: an existing contact, a new contact, or an ordinary page. Matched pages become the person's own page, and links to them become mentions.
Read the import report. It lists everything that came in and every item that was skipped, with the reason, such as a file over 4 MB.
What comes across
- Pages and sub-pages keep their nesting, and links between them are reconnected. A link that points outside the export stays as a dashed, unresolved link.
- Callouts become Pages callouts of the plain note type, keeping the emoji icon. A callout with a custom image icon keeps no icon, and the report says so.
- Databases come from the CSV files. Each column's type is guessed from its values, and relations between databases are rebuilt where nearly every value names a row of one database.
- Not carried over: database views, filters and sorts, formulas, rollups and other computed columns (you get their results, not the formula), page history, comments and permissions. Notion's help page for Markdown & CSV export doesn't list comments, history or permissions as part of the export, so expect them to start fresh. Re-share pages from Share once they are in.
- Left as text: raw HTML in Notion's Markdown that Pages has no block for is kept as text and reported. Notion's HTML export isn't imported, so choose Markdown & CSV.
